Windows 8 Will Make October 2012 Debut
Whether you’re waiting impatiently for the glossy and freshly revamped next version of Windows or you’re dreading your office’s move to yet another operating system that you and your co-workers will need to learn to use, mark October 2012 in your calendar as the month to watch.
While Microsoft has long maintained that it was be releasing Windows 8 in 2012 on PCs, smartphones and tablets, many analysts have been speculating that working out the kinks and getting the new OS onto available devices in that time frame simply wouldn’t be possible.
Assuming the sources being quoted by reports in Bloomberg this morning are reliable – and they almost always are – it appears that those analysts will be eating their words while playing with the new Metro interface this fall.
This morning’s reports indicates that not only will Windows 8 see its PC launch in October, but tablet makers like Lenova also expect to be releasing devices powered by Microsoft’s latest product around the same time. With both Intel and ARM processors promised to be supported out of the box, Windows fans and critics alike can look forward to testing the OS on a variety of platforms sooner rather than later.
